Macroeconomic Outlook Report: Slovakia

Financial intermediation, real estate and business activities contributed 22.7% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2020, followed by mining, manufacturing and utilities (22.6%) and other services (19.6%). In 2021, the sectors are expected to grow by 6.1%, 5.6% and 4.5%, respectively.

Bratislava and Western Slovakia contributed 58.9% of the country’s GDP and comprised 45.6% of Slovakia’s population as of 2019, according to EuroStat

The Slovakian SKSM Index has exhibited an increasing trend. As of October 4, 2021, the SKSM Index stood at 386.21, compared to 350.12 on October 4, 2021


– In June 2021, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced it would provide a loan worth $36.5 million to the Presov regional administration in Slovakia in order to improve transport and social infrastructure facilities
