Coal Mining in Kazakhstan to 2020

Proven coal reserves in Kazakhstan were 33.6 billion tonnes (Bnt) in 2014, accounting for 3.8% of global reserves, consisting of both bituminous and sub-bituminous coal: around 64% of the country’s coal reserves are bituminous. Coal reserves are mainly found in the Karaganda, Ekibastuz and Turgayskiy basins.
