By using this technology to gather urban data and improve performance and management, cities can rapidly improve performance in relation to sustainability. Examples related to tourism include smart solutions for parking and highway speed controls. Smart cities also provide mobility and resource allocation through the use of big data, allowing city officials to be proactive instead of reactive, which helps to minimize the risk of future unsustainable impacts.
